Career Development & Trainings

The doctoral program is a multi-year stage of advanced professional development that extends well beyond the completion of the dissertation and career development opportunities and training in transferable skills are an essential component of contemporary doctoral education. In an increasingly interdisciplinary and rapidly evolving work environment, these competencies are indispensable.
Because career paths after graduation are diverse and not confined to academia, early reflection on one’s strengths and skills combined with deliberate personal and professional development significantly enhances long-term career flexibility and opportunities both within and beyond the academic sphere.

The DSHCS supports its fellows at different stages of the doctoral journey – often in collaboration with other Doctoral Schools – through initiatives such as the Career Day, the Monthly Academic Writing Input Sessions, Winter and Summer Writing Schools, Completion Workshops, and workshops on science communication and the use of AI, thereby providing structure, guidance, and orientation throughout the program.
