Within the scope of the present data processing, the University of Vienna processes the following categories of personal data:

  • Student ID number
  • Start of doctoral studies
  • Field of study
  • Desired focus area
  • Title of the dissertation project
  • Supervisors
  • Link to the u:cris account

The legal basis for the processing is the consent of the data subject.

If the provision of personal data for this data processing is required by law, contractually stipulated, or necessary for the conclusion of a contract, failure to provide the data may result in the University of Vienna being unable to fulfill its obligations towards you.

My data will be deleted no later than six months after completion of my studies.

As a data subject, you have the following rights vis-à-vis the University of Vienna:

  • right of access,
  • right to rectification,
  • right to erasure,
  • right to restriction of processing,
  • right to data portability, and
  • right to object to further processing,

where the legal basis for the processing is an overriding legitimate interest of the controller or where the data are processed for scientific or historical research purposes or for statistical purposes.

In addition, you have the option to revoke the consent granted for data processing at any time without giving reasons. Finally, you have the option to lodge a complaint about what you consider to be unlawful data processing with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (www.dsb.gv.at).
