Seed Money Grant

The DSHCS awards work contracts to its fellows for the preparation of third-party funding applications for the long-term financing of their dissertation projects (e.g. DOC or foreign funding agencies). The aim is to support applicants in preparing their applications and to integrate them into the scientific community of the DSHCS and the faculty.

Program

Support for highly qualified fellows who do not yet have funding for their dissertation project and wish to apply for third-party funding. If the application is successful, it is expected that the appointment will be made through the university.

Target Group

Fellows from all disciplines who are primarily supervised at the University of Vienna, who successfully completed their master's or diploma degree no more than two years ago, and whose supervisors actively support them in preparing an application. Applicants have a profile on U:CRIS and agree to attend a workshop on applying for funding, e.g. via u:rise.

Type of Funding, Funding Amount and Duration

Work contract worth €1,050/month for a maximum of 3 months

Applications

are accepted twice a year (deadline 31 March and 31 October)

• Completed online form,
• Application documents as one PDF:l Letter of motivation | detailed project outline (3-5 pages) including the status of preliminary work, specific information on the planned work steps up to the submission of the application, information on the desired funding program | curriculum vitae with details of previous academic achievements (e.g. publications, awards or conference participation) and employment history | a letter of recommendation from your supervisor.
