Student Initiatives

Student initiatives are another important aspect of our self-conception as an active and participatory Doctoral School. Especially at the doctoral level, it is essential to develop own ideas, take on responsibility, and actively shape academic formats. When doctoral candidates initiate workshops, reading groups, or other peer-based formats, they not only expand their project-specific expertise but also strengthen their organizational skills, teamwork, and academic communication, competencies that are highly valuable both within and beyond academia. The DSHCS therefore provides targeted financial and organizational support for these initiatives. This support enable Fellows to invite external guests, use facilities, or implement innovative formats that arise from their interests and current research questions.
