Academic Activities & Accreditation
In addition to acquire scientific knowledge and writing a thesis, we strongly recommend additional academic activities. Especially if you pursue an academic career, conference presentations and publications are essential, since communicating research results is an integral part of scientific work. Conferences and publications are indispensable opportunities to receive feedback for your research and to establish a professional network.
Moreover, you are expected to develop further (transferable) skills through workshops and training-by-doing. To encourage our doctoral candidates to use their time with us in the best possible way in terms of academic outcome, networking, and training, the DSPL 41 grants ECTS credit points for a variety of academic activities if a activity is listed under point 7 of the doctoral thesis agreement:
- Participating in international conferences/workshops: 1 ECTS (once)
- Presentation at international conferences/workshops: 3-5 ECTS
- (Co-)organization of international conferences/workshops: 3-4 ECTS
- Academic publication: 4-5 ECTS
- Curating of exhibitions: 3-4 ECTS
- Teaching: 3-4 ECTS
- Participating in a research project: 1-3 ECTS
- Organization of a DSHCS Summer/Winter School: 3 ECTS
- Participating in a DSHCS Summer/Winter School: 2 ECTS
- Organization of a DSHCS student's initiative: 2 ECTS
- Regular participation in a DSHCS student's initiative: 1 ECTS
- Serving as mentor/coach in the DSHCS: 3 ECTS
- Participating in the team of our Podcast Doctor it! for one semester: 2 ECTS
- Serving as DSHCS student's representative: 2 ECTS
- Participating in a training of the DSHCS/HR/CTL: 2 ECTS
Please register all activities which you have to complete according to the doctoral thesis agreement in the form "Leistungsübersicht und Prüfungspass für das Doktoratsstudium" and send it together with the annual progress report and respective proofs to the StudienServiceCenter which provides additional information.
